Kim Alcock

Kim joined McLarens in 2020, as Head of UK Casualty and TPA, having gained 25+ years’ experience, working within 3 leading UK loss adjusting practices.

In her early career, Kim spent 3 years with an Insurer Liability claims department before becoming a trainee loss adjuster with McLarens. She quickly progressed through the ranks from Branch Manager to Area Director and then Head of Liability.  Moving to GABR, she spent 6 years as Head of Casualty, before joining Davies Group.  At Davies, as Director for Strategic Accounts and Business Development, Kim was responsible for casualty growth strategy and product development, alongside the management of various key cross class clients. Subsequently, she spent 18 months as Managing Director of Davies Motor.

As a member of the Women in CILA group, Kim is actively involved in promoting diversity within the Insurance profession and supporting women to progress through various mentoring activities and programmes.

Stephanie Boodoosingh

Stephanie has worked in the insurance industry for the past 13 years and is a practising civil Attorney-at-Law with the Bar Association of Trinidad and Tobago, a Chartered Loss Adjuster, a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and holder of an Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute. She further holds a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the West Indies and an Associate in Claims (Inclusive of Property Casualty Claims) from the Insurance Institute of America. She is also a Fellow of the International Federation of Loss Adjusting Associations, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters, an accredited FUEDI-European Loss Adjusting Expert and a Full Member of the International Institute of Loss Adjusters. She is currently a Director at Legis Adjusting Limited.

Tim Carpenter

Tim joined McLarens in 2017, where he set up & developed the expanding Private Client Services team. Having been in adjusting since 1989, he specialises in High Net Worth & Major Loss, both in the UK and overseas.  Many of these have been in the multi-million pound bracket and have involved high profile professionals, landed gentry, and celebrities. Tim is also a Committee Member of the CILA High Net Worth Special Interest Group.

Steve Crystal

Responsible for Sedgwick’s financial crime policies. These include their claims fraud strategy, which helps colleagues protect their clients' reputations when handling insurance claims. Steve also oversees the systems and controls in place to protect the integrity of the business and meet the financial crime regulatory requirements.

 

Marc Dekenah

Marc is an electrical/electronics specialist with IFIC Forensics.  His 25+ year design career includes product design from simple electronic domestic products through to large industrial control systems.  Over the last 15 years, Marc has predominently used his knowledge, experience, and skills in fault diagnostics and forensics.  [His hobby is music, specifically playing bass, albeit not as professionally as he would like, and mixing].

 

Barry Ford

Barry Ford MCIAT MCIOB CEnv IMaPS is Technical Director and Senior Architectural Technologist at Smithers Purslow Ltd.

Barry has over thirty years’ experience in the construction industry, working in a large range of sectors in both new build and refurbishment projects, many of which have involved work to listed or historic buildings.

With a long standing interest in sustainable design, Barry has applied the principles whenever possible; discussing their practical application with clients to achieve affordable and rewarding results. In the last few years he has worked on a number of buildings designed to Passivhaus standards.

 

Ian Gibbs

Ian Gibbs is National Technical Manager in Sedgwick. His background is in the Insurance sector, project managing the claim/repair of domestic/commercial buildings and managing the response to flood events. He has developed a service to provide flood resilience surveys to the Insurance market before and during flood events.

A long term member of the Defra Resilience Round Table, which is driving the uptake of flood resilience in the England, including leading Task Group 2, “Small Business Resilience”. He also leads for BITC the Business Emergency Resilience Group (BERG) extreme weather group.  Currently a member of the Environment Agency “Property Flood Resilience Pathfinder Steering Group” which is driving research and education into flood resilience. His widespread involvement in these groups provides the opportunity to influence the thinking on future flood response.

Chris Hall

Chris is the Managing Director of QuestGates the largest owner managed UK loss adjusting and claims specialist company and a Director of vrs the global loss adjusting organisation. He has nearly 40 years experience of claims handling and has worked for insurers, loss adjusters and outsourcing companies.

During his career he has led teams which have launched numerous innovative claims solutions including the first managed contractor network, out of hours call centre and outsourcing of entire claims operations as well as new approaches for the likes of Environmental claims, Complex Household and Claims Concierge services. He was responsible for the launch of QuestGates in 2003 and it now has annual revenue around £25m and is the UK and Ireland partner of vrs.

 

Michelle Haynes

Michelle has been in the loss adjusting profession since 2002. She has always had a keen interest in her own professional development and in 2009 qualified as an Associate member of CILA at the age of 28.

Her focus is now on the professional develop of others, being a member of the CILA examinations committee, CILA council and the Women in CILA group.

Paul redington

Starting his insurance career as a graduate trainee Paul has been handling customer’s losses for over 28 years. His claims experience at some of the UK’s leading Insurers has also included managing large Motor, Casualty & Professional Indemnity exposures.  

Paul joined Zurich in 2010 to a role involving the rapid response to large property claims - including serious fires, floods & explosions. Paul assists with political lobbying on some of the big issues currently facing Zurich UK’s clients. These include the challenges around metal theft, commercial squatting and fly-tipping. He also contributes to the company’s output on various risk topics, sharing insight & loss management advice.

 

tim Richardson

Tim has worked within the insurance claims arena for over 30 years, taking management positions with insurance companies, loss adjusters, investigation companies, and brokers. Tim is a Commercial Loss Adjuster by trade with good technical knowledge and experience in Property, Business Interruption, Liability, and Casualty. He specialises in fraud investigations and is the Technical Representative for CILA’s Anti-Fraud Special Interest Group. Tim also sits on the main CILA Council.

 

Garry slater

Garry began his insurance career working part-time at an Insurance Broker whilst starting his A-levels. After completing his exams, rather than going to university and studying to be a Teacher as planned, he decided to take a year out to continue with the Broker, and the rest is history!

With over 30 years of claims experience within various Insurers and Loss Adjusting firms, Garry has specialised in investigations and counter fraud for over 20 years. He has dealt with major and complex losses across all classes of business in the UK and Overseas, saving millions for his Insurer clients in the process.

Garry leads the investigations department at Claims Consortium, where he looks at alternative solutions for fraud identification and investigation aligning to client needs and expectations, utilising the best technological solutions alongside expertise to ensure delivery.

 

peter taylor

Peter began his career as a CID officer and went on to become Head of Investigations for UK Loss Adjusters.  He now works as an independent fraud and cyber consultant.

Peter led a detailed research project into cyber-crime which included interviews with former cyber criminals, infiltration of dark web markets, and obtaining the training materials cyber criminals share. 

The research has been tapped into by technology companies, insurers, investigators, and retailers to improve their capabilities.  This session includes some of that research and why it is relevant to insurance, the data we hold, claims and all fraud.

 

Alex wakefield

Alex joined McLarens Private Clients in May 2018, having devoted much of the last decade to working in the Private Clients field, both with Cunningham Lindsey and QuestGates.  Alex specialises in claims from across the High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth spectrum, both buildings and contents related and manages a focused portfolio of work for a large variety of Principals.  Alex has a personal interest in the world of horology and has over the last 20 years built a collection of modern and antique wristwatches.

Peter has worked for Sedgwick for over thirty years including handling domestic, subsidence and major loss claims and leading the Quantity Surveying team.  He is now the Technical Director of  Sedgwick Repair Solutions, having been involved in creation of the contractor network at its outset. 

He represents the business in its membership of ClimateWise and its involvement with groups which form part of its CSR response.
